Pricing and Ordering Third-Party Memory

Tech CYte is your source for third-party memory for most types of computers. To get a price quote, submit the relevant information via our online configuration form. With that information, we will generate a memory configuration for your machine. You may have this configuration faxed or emailed to you. Note that memory prices usually vary slightly each day.

Departments can place an order for memory by sending the configuration back to Tech CYte with an intramural. Personal orders must be placed in person at University Book Store, Memorial Union. Commonly requested modules are kept in stock. Non-stock items are usually available within a matter of days

Configuration Form

To complete the configuration form, you need to know the brand and model of your machine, the amount of memory currently installed, as well as the amount of memory you wish to add. Original manufacturer part numbers and/or a description of the memory (such as from a users guide) is also very helpful.

For Gateway machines, the motherboard part number (e.g., MBDSAC032AAWW) is required. If we have additional questions, we will contact you by email. The better you describe what you need, the better we can determine an appropriate memory configuration for your machine.

Notes

Generally, laptop computers do not use generic memory. Each brand, and often each model, uses unique memory. As a result, only memory for the larger-selling laptops is usually available other than through the dealer that sold the machine.

Memory for Apple, Compaq, Gateway, HP, IBM, NEC, and Toshiba laptops is readily available. For many others, particularly generic laptops, it is not.
