The ISU Book Store is revolutionizing the way students access course materials through modern technology solutions and partnerships. We have been working with your faculty and textbook publishers to deliver digital course materials at a significant savings off the market value of the traditional textbook.
What is Inclusive Access?
Inclusive Access is a new textbook model that converts physical course materials into instantly accessible, totally interactive and adaptive digital content. The ISU Book Store, publishers, and faculty collaborate to make the digital course material available to every student on the first day of class. Because every student enrolled receives the digital course material, the publisher charges a lower bulk rate to the bookstore resulting in a lower retail price to the student. Most of digital content includes adaptive learning platforms, like McGraw-Hill’s Connect or other access codes you may have purchased for previous courses.
How it works…
- If a faculty member has chosen to use Inclusive Access for any of your courses, details will be posted in your book list in AccessPlus.
- Students will receive access to the digital course material through Blackboard on the first day of class.
- Upon enrollment in the course, the charge will be automatically billed to the student’s university account (U-Bill).
- Students can request to opt-out and receive a refund within in the first 10 days of class (5th day of class for partial semester courses). Just send us a quick email: email@example.com
How much does Inclusive Access cost?
Prices will vary depending on the course materials chosen by your instructor. Most Inclusive Access prices are lower than the cost to access the material directly through the publisher and averages a cost savings upwards of 60% off the price of a new print textbook.
How am I billed for Inclusive Access?
You will see a charge on your U-bill from the bookstore on or before the first day of class. There is nothing tangible to purchase from the ISU Book Store, you will receive access to the digital course material from your instructor on the first day of class.
What does it mean to opt-out?
If you do not want to receive your digital course material through this model you can email firstname.lastname@example.org and ask to opt-out and receive a refund. Don’t wait! Opt-outs are only accepted within the first 10 days of class (5th day of class for partial semester courses). Access to the digital course material will be revoked at that time, and you will be responsible to find the required course material by other means.
What if I chose to opt-out, but changed my mind?
We can work with the publisher to get you reconnected with the digital course material. Send us an email at email@example.com or stop by the ISU Book Store for assistance.
What if I drop the course? Can I still get a full refund?
If you drop your course prior to the 10th day of class (5th day of class for partial semester courses), you will automatically receive a refund for the digital course material. Courses dropped beyond the 10th day of class are not eligible for refunds. Partial semester courses, must be dropped by the 5th business day after the start of the course to receive a refund.
