Return Policies

 

Textbook, eBook, and Access Code Return Policy

  • Receipt required if purchased instore. Otherwise, return requests purchased online can be requested through your ISU BookStore account.
  • Refunds for purchases made with cash or check are paid in cash.
  • Refunds for purchases made with a credit card, debit card, UBill are credited to the same card/account.
  • Fall textbooks purchased before July 15th are not eligible for refund or exchange - all sales are final.
  • Spring textbooks purchased before December 1st are not eligible for refund or exchange - all sales are final.
  • Fall eBooks and Access Codes purchased before July 15th are only eligible for refund if the materials have not been redeemed or accessed.
  • Spring eBooks and Access Codes purchased before December 1st are only eligible for refund if the materials have not been redeemed or accessed.
  • All refunds must be made within time limit.
    • Fall & Spring full semester courses within 10 days from the first day of classes.
    • Fall & Spring half semester courses (8-week courses) refunded for 5 days after start date of class.
    • Summer full semester courses (8-week courses) refunded for 5 days after start date of class.
    • All short sessions (less than 8-week courses) refunded for 3 days after start date of class.
  • Course packets, calculators, and quick study guides are nonrefundable.
  • Textbooks must be in purchased condition for a full refund. There will be no refunds for packaged texts if the shrink-wrap package or seal on box is broken, damaged, or items are missing.
  • Defective books, eBooks, and access codes are replaced or refunded at the discretion of University Book Store management.
  • Shipping charges are not refunded on returns. Exchanges are subject to new shipping charges.

 

General Books & Merchandise

  • Receipt required.
  • Refunds for purchases made with cash, check, or debit card are paid in cash.
  • Refunds for purchases made with a credit card are credited to the same card.
  • General Books & Merchandise may be returned within 30 days if in new condition. Excludes Textbooks.
  • After 30 days, refunds will be given for defective merchandise at the store's discretion.
  • Special orders must have prior approval for return.
  • No refunds allowed on general books with software if the disk sleeve has been opened, unless the disk is defective.
  • No refunds on test preps, study guides, job and career guides, computer books or sale/clearance merchandise.
  • No returns will be allowed on gift card purchases.
  • In-store credit or exchange given within 30 days for gifts without a receipt.
  • Shipping charges are not refunded on returns. Exchanges are subject to new shipping charges.
  • All sales are final on sale/clearance items. No returns or exchanges will be accepted.

 

TechCyte Return Policy

  • Merchandise must be returned in the original, unopened packaging or shrink wrap.
  • Merchandise must be returned within 14 days accompanied by the original receipt.
  • No returns/exchanges on open batteries, ink/toner, printers, special order computers/tablets, or storage.
  • No returns on sale merchandise.
  • No returns on open calculators or headphones. Exchanges for same product only, after TechCyte verification of defect.
  • Technology returns are subject to a restocking fee of 15% of the order on both personal and departmental purchases.

 

Graduation Return Policy

  • Receipt required.
  • Refunds for purchases made with cash or debit card are paid in cash.
  • Refunds for purchases made with a credit card are credited to the same card.
  • Graduation products may not be returned if opened and/or worn.
  • No returns will be allowed on customized merchandise, including PhD custom attire, custom stoles, customized announcements, custom hoods, custom diploma frames, and fitted tams.
  • If graduation product is in sealed packaging, it can be exchanged for a different size and/or color.
  • Shipping charges are not refunded on returns. Exchanges are subject to new shipping charges.

The University Book Store reserves the right and has the responsibility to refuse any refund or buyback where there has been an abuse of these policies. All refunds are handled at the discretion of the University Book Store management.
