What is Textbook BuyBack?

Current Iowa State Students have the option of selling their gently used books back to the ISU Book Store for cash. Students can sell their books back at any time, however, it is strongly encourage to sell their books at the end of the Fall and Spring terms. During this time books are useally worth more then during other times of the year.


What determines a books buyback amount?

These conditions can vary semester to semester year to year but these are the general determinations:

  • Books must be in reusable condition. We reserve the right to refuse to purchase a used book based on its condition. This includes water damage, missing pages, and overly written in.
  • New edition
  • If the book is required for any upcoming Iowa State courses

  • Your ID is required to sell back textbooks.
  • Buyback operates on a first-come, first-serve basis. The quantity being bought back is limited and may be reached at any time.
  • Buyback prices are subject to change without notice.
  • Coursepackets, Quick Study Guides, and some workbooks are NOT eligable for buyback.
  • Prices listed for selling your books online may not be the same as what is offered in the store.
  • Bring all your books, even if you didn't buy from us! We work with multiple companies to buy books so we'll check them all to see what the best price we can offer!
